Chris Herren, former professional NBA basketball player, will be giving a presentation at the Ludlow High School Auditorium on Oct. 24 at 6:30 pm about the benefits of sober-living and avoiding the temptations of drug and alcohol use.

The presentation is being put on by the Ludlow C.A.R.E.S Coalition in endorsement of Red Ribbon Week and Project Purple.

Kathleen Rooney, student member of Ludlow C.A.R.E.S, said that next week’s speech in hopes of helping “to inform kids about the harmfulness of drugs and to help kids make informed decisions about their lives.”

Herren had given a similar speech to the Ludlow community in the fall of 2013 which was both inspirational and emotional. Ludlow C.A.R.E.S reveals that the feedback from Herren’s 2013 speech was very positive and they hope it will again leave a lasting impression on the attendees.

Stephanee Bouthiller, junior at LHS, had attended the 2013 presentation and called it, “amazing and that it made a surreal situation come to life.”

Everyone is encouraged to attend and learn more about Herren’s story of what impacts substance abuse can have on success.
