After following a 4-13 regular season last year, the New England Patriots have officially struck back this year. This regular season they finished with a 14-3 record, achieving what sports analysts are calling an impressive single-season turnaround. Following their surprisingly successful regular season they made it to the playoffs and have played their way all the way to Super Bowl LX(60). This Super Bowl is versus the Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco’s stadium and will take place at 6:30pm on February 8th, 2026.
After the loss of Tom Brady, it seemed the empire had collapsed—but this season has proved otherwise. Just a year ago, most of New England couldn’t even be bothered to watch any Patriots games because a loss always felt imminent. After the end of the season last year, the Pats head coach, Jarod Mayo, was fired and it felt like the old Brady and Billichik “glory days” were even more unachievable and entirely left in the past.
This season has proved that the dynasty is not dead: it is now reborn.
Personally for me, I have started to see the shift in New England’s culture. The shift back to Victory Mondays, pride while wearing Patriots gear, and most amusingly: other teams not liking us. I have seen more and more tiktoks about how Patriots have “had an easy schedule” or simply keep getting lucky in the games. But does luck take you all the way to the super bowl?
Personally, I do not think we simply got “lucky.” I think this franchise has simply done a great job at rebuilding a team. While in our rebuilding years, we had many different quarterbacks, different head coaches, different approaches, etc. Nothing really changed, until this year.
But why has this happened?
Many fans would probably say its all thanks to Drake Maye. Personally I love the king of the North, however I think a huge portion of the success is due to many different aspects as well as Maye’s stellar 2nd professional season. First of all, head coach Mike Vrabrel has done an excellent job coaching this year, and has even earned the “2025 AP NFL Coach of the Year.” Secondly, Josh McDaniels also won “2025 AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year.” The truth is a team will never get too far without great coaching and the Patriots are an example of what great coaching can do to a franchise.
Ultimately, the successful season for the Pats has been more than just wins: it has brought an entire culture back together. The Pats did not only find a great quarterback out of Drake Maye, or a great Coach out of Mike Vrabel, they were able to rebuild a whole franchise. The Patriots have been able to use the success from the Brady era and replicate that again.
Will the patriots get to hoist the Lombardi Trophy tomorrow night? This is not clear, however it is clear that there is a great future ahead for the Patriots and I personally cannot wait to see it happen. Go Pats!!
