With the Western Massachusetts championship tournament taking place this past Monday, the 2012 golf season has officially come to a close.
“Our student-athletes enjoyed an excellent season,” reflects coach Kurt Anderson. “The team won the suburban league title.”
The golf team lost a lot of talent with last year’s graduating class including super seven selections Joe Francisco and Thane Schienebeck.
“Overall the season was a great success. We went undefeated 10-0 in the league and 15-2 overall,” said senior captain Nick Bellucci.
The golf team includes standout players Nick Bellucci, Marc Miller, Robert Libiszewski and Aarron McNamara.
When asked about his favorite part about coaching, Anderson replied, “The best part of coaching is building relationships with each of the players.”
Other varsity members of the team include: David Annecchiarico, Nick Forzano, Adam Douville, Chad Martowski, Connor Harrington, and Ethan Wheeler.
Anderson went on to describe the matches and the diverse courses. He said, “Our team plays at many nice venues such as Ludlow Country Club, Westover Golf Course and away at several other golf courses throughout the area. The team plays a total of nine holes per round.”
Bellucci, McNamara, Miller, Libiszewski, Nick Antos, and David Annecchiarico were among the six members of the golf team who attended the Western Mass. championship tournament held at Elmcrest Country Club in East Longmeadow.
