The Class of 2018 elected Matthew Goncalves as class president on April 7, replacing Brooke Chisholm, who served the class as president her freshman and sophomore year.

“I feel bad that Brooke thinks this was just a popularity contest but that’s not the case,” says Goncalves. “This is about me trying to fix problems at LHS.”

Goncalves states that one issue he hopes to tackle is the planning process behind prom.

“I think we should pick a good, safe place like the Log Cabin,” he says.

In addition, Goncalves says that he would like to find a way to incorporate field day as an activity as a possible “stress reliever.”

“I don’t want it to interrupt class time but I would like to get students outside when the weather is nice,” he said.

He hopes to improve some things that the sophomore class struggled with this year, including improving the class T-shirts.

Goncalves can’t do it all on his own. The students have also chosen other class representatives to help “make LHS great again.” Matthew Lussier continues to be the Vice President and Emma Mayou remains the Secretary. Hannah Martin is the newly elected Treasurer.
