LHS students prepare for Battle of the Classes

Ludlow High School is preparing for what seems to be the most exciting time of the year, where students can pull out their  face paint and craziest outfits in hopes to beat out the competition. That’s right, Battle of the Classes (BTC) Fall Fest is right around the corner. The event will be starting next week Nov. 18-22.

All classes, nine through 12, are competing for points by dressing up in outfits to what fits  the theme that day during the week.

The BTC Fall Fest themes are as follows:

Monday- Plannal Days (flannel or plaid attire)

Tuesday-80’s Day

Wednesday-Class Color Day. Students are encouraged to wear their class color, however, students participating in the Powder Puff game that evening are required to wear their jerseys. The game is taking place at the LHS football field, with an entrance fee of $4 or $3 with a canned good. The first game starts with the freshman taking on the sophomores at 6:00 with a short intermission at 6:45 when ten girls from each team with partake in a four-way tug of war. Ending the night at 7:00 when the juniors take on the seniors.

Thursday- Tie Dye

Friday- Maroon and White Day

This year one spirit week will be held per season starting with Fall Fest, then Winter Spirit, ending the year with Spring Spirit.

The points from these weeks will be combined to award a BTC champion at the end of the year and the winning class will be put on the Battle of the Classes trophy.

“I think spirit week gives the students something to look forward to and puts us in a good mood,” says junior Emily Aniceto, “even if I don’t participate I still get really excited.”

Alexis Gamache, Editor-in-Chief
Large and in charge, senior Alexis Gamache is top dog, seeing as she’s now the Editor-In-Chief of the The Cub. Before graduating in June, Alexis hopes to leave her footprint on LHS and is planning big things for the newspaper. She basically  lives at her dance studio, taking six classes a week and teaching on Friday nights. However, when she is not dancing she’s busy being a “scoopoligist” at the Friendly’s in Ludlow (she also has big plans to get out of that job as soon as possible). Alexis gets excited when country music is blasting through her radio in her 1993 Chevy Trailblazer, also referred to as Brandy. She could sit outside for hours and just take in the good weather, “it’s the little things in life” she enjoys. Her bright, bubbly personality is something you can’t ignore. You’ll recognize the big smile and her curly brown hair, which Alexis swears is a blessing in disguise. Although she’s still undecided on her goals, education is what she is leaning towards. Get to know her, you’ll regret you didn’t.
