While there was some controversy surrounding this year’s prom, the night ultimately turned out to be beautiful and memorable for many students.
Prom was originally scheduled for the first Saturday of April break due to a lack of openings at venues for other dates. This date wasn’t widely agreed upon, and backlash quickly followed as many students felt it was inconvenient. Some seniors even said they planned to host their own prom rather than attend the scheduled one.
In response, prom was moved to the end of May on a Friday despite how difficult it was to find an available venue. While not perfect, many agreed it was a much better option than the original date. The later date also gave students more time to get ready, whether that meant finding outfits, making dinner reservations, or planning with friends.
In the end, prom still turned into a truly magical night.
This year’s prom was described as “beautiful, energetic, and perfectly fit to the theme” by junior Logan Costa. Held at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, the venue had stunning views and plenty of gorgeous photo spots. The weather was perfect as well, with a warm afternoon that was never too hot that led into a cool and crisp evening. As the sun set, the view became perfect for photos, and students took full advantage of it. Everything together (the scenery, the weather, and the venue) created a picture-perfect night.
The theme was “Enchanted Garden,” filled with many different shades of greens, pinks, and whites throughout the décor. A variety of roses and greens were placed at every seat as party favors, and lanterns wrapped in vines and flowers decorated the center of each table. A hedge backdrop with tulips and a neon sign gave students a perfect spot for photos. Every detail was intentional and helped to transform the venue into something that matched the theme exceptionally well.
The venue itself worked really well for the event. There was plenty of space for a photo booth, a buffet, and a make-your-own ice cream station, so there was always something going on. With multiple indoor areas and a large outdoor plaza across two levels, students could move around easily depending on what they wanted to do. Whether that was taking photos, hanging out with friends, dancing, or just enjoying the view, everyone seemed to enjoy every activity.
Students showed up in a wide range of dresses and suits, all of which were uniquely gorgeous in their own way. The most popular styles included sheer corsets and layered, tiered skirts. Silk dresses were also very common, often paired with beading that added extra detail and dimension. Many guys wore suits that matched their partners, while others went with styles that fit their own personality. One couple even dyed their hair to match. It was clear a lot of effort went into everyone’s outfits to show off on this fun night.
When students arrived, they were greeted by MassLive photographers taking pictures near the entrance. Throughout the night, they kept snapping photos, capturing candid moments that students will cherish for years.

Food was served early in the night so people could eat before heading to dessert and getting loud on the dance floor. The buffet style meal was a great way for students to easily get their food and choose the exact meal they wanted. There were plenty of options, including meatballs, sliders, and mac and cheese, but some students felt the food was “mediocre and not always served hot.”
Despite the run-of-the-mill food, most students agreed that the venue and the view made up for it. For a lot of people, food wasn’t really the focus of the night anyway; they were more focused on spending time with friends and enjoying the experience.
Dessert, however, was a totally different story.
The ice cream bar was a huge hit as students excitedly ran to the line once it was opened. There were plenty of flavors to choose from and tons of toppings, including caramel, marshmallows, and candy. Staff worked quickly to keep everything stocked as a long line formed throughout the night. Once the dessert had been devoured, the dance floor filled up and the party began. It quickly became one of the most talked-about parts of the night.
Many students said the dance floor was their favorite part of prom. DJ Nicole Nell kept the energy high with flower-themed lighting and loud music that made the Log Cabin feel alive and energetic. The dance floor stayed packed for most of the night, with students dancing, singing along, and even crowd surfing before being told to stop.
Junior Isabella Seara exclaimed that, “the dance floor was packed all night. With hits from Ice Spice to Justin Bieber, there was something for everyone.” The songs seemed to perfectly fit everyone’s needs, and the energy never really dropped even as the night came to an end.
To end the night, the DJ played “Mr. Brightside,” a classic sing-along that everyone can jump up and down to. This moment turned into a big group singalong and a perfect closing to the most beautiful night. As the song played, students gathered together one last time on the dance floor. Luckily, for incoming juniors and seniors, Nicole will be returning as DJ next year as well.
One common complaint was the length of prom. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., many students felt it went by too quickly. Some wished they had more time to dance or take photos. While extending the event could help, it would also mean higher costs and longer hours for chaperones and staff.
Still, even with the short timeframe, students made the most of it. Many continued the night at after-parties, keeping the energy going and extending the celebration with friends.
Ludlow Prom 2026 seemed to be well-loved overall, thanks to the Class of 2027 Student Council and their advisors, Mrs. Fernandes and Mrs. Masse, who put a lot of work into planning it. From start to finish, their effort showed. Hopefully next year’s prom is just as memorable and fun as this one was.
