With 2026 rolling in, people are laying out their New Year’s Resolutions, whether for the better or worse. Students at LHS are no different, having their own goals for the new year.
A few of the juniors here have similar ideas in mind, some goals relating to their literacy skills. David Wilson says he intends to read more, achieving this goal by “giving myself 30 minutes every day.” Another student wants to learn Spanish fluently, taking the time to study it up! And when it comes to journaling, Isabella Seara plans to write every night, expressing her feelings and ideas throughout the day. Not only will it help her organize her emotions, but she can also look back at past memories in the future.
Other responses shared are more broad in general. One student is looking to get their driver’s license, taking it to the roads to finally upgrade from their permit. Another is eager to work out more, wanting to go to the gym with their friends.
And then some resolutions are complete opposites. Lilliana Saraiva will keep herself positive, giving her explanation of how she’ll do it: “I plan to achieve this by saying on positive affirmation a day to help me stay positive throughout the whole day.” But another student thinks “No more Mr. nice guy,” wanting to be more hateful…
Overall, everyone is channeling a fresh start with something they plan to work on. And while it might differ from person to person, almost everyone has a New Year’s Resolution to share.
