It’s so easy to fall in love with new and old artists alike, especially on social media. New TikTok trends can ignite any singer’s career, a prime example being a popular new artist, Olivia Dean. The English singer’s new album The Art of Loving has had multiple hit songs and trends online, taking off her musical career in 2025.
The Beginning
Olivia Dean’s debut single, Reason to Stay, released in 2018, helped her gain traction for a collaboration with Rudimental. This collab allowed her to release her first EP Ok Love You Bye in 2019.
Over the next three years of her musical career Olivia Dean was put to work, as she released many more EP’s and singles back to back. Between 2020 and 2023 she slowly started to release all the songs on her debut album as well as collaborating with other artists like Leon Bridges and Ezra Collective. She also wrote songs for movies and TV shows like the original BBC series “This Town” and “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy”
Her first taste of stardom with “The Hardest Part (Acoustic)” being released in 2020 and making her debut studio album Messy 3 years after its official release. Her first album was nominated for a 2023 Mercury Prize, although she didn’t win, its prominence in the category was a sign of her growing popularity.
Rising Popularity
On social media, especially TikTok, people were using Man I Need by Olivia Dean for numerous trends. One of the trends consisted of people having fun bonding while the song played in the background. Another trend involved showing their significant others with this song.
Olivia’s song So Easy (To Fall in Love) also trended on TikTok, gaining popularity for its lyrics with lots of people lip-syncing to the song. The song had about 3.5 million posts under it from the trend, which boosted her listeners.
Lots of people also started listening to her because of her “satisfying” voice. Some say the reason they listen to her is because her voice is fresh and makes people feel nostalgic.
Dean also was an opener for the pop star Sabrina Carpenter on her second US leg of the Short and Sweet Tour. Many Carpenter fans were ecstatic to see Dean, and hear some of her most popular songs live.
Accomplishments
The Art of Loving tour announcement has already had some struggles. Her North American tour dates on Ticketmaster were quickly filled with fans, but also filled with hundreds of thousands of bots.
Not only were real fans competing with robots, but unfortunately a Ticketmaster typo skyrocketed prices. Tickets that were supposed to be sold at $50 were accidentally priced at $750. Resellers also added to the issue raising their prices, selling $100 nosebleed tickets for $300.
Luckily for her fans, Dean and her team worked hard to fix the prices on Ticketmaster. She also shared her outrage with her fans posting “Thank you for your patience and I’m looking forward to seeing all you real humans at the show, STOP THE BOTS.”
She helped to refund her fans while also condemning Ticketmaster for allowing the botting and price gouging to happen. “The prices at which you’re allowing tickets to be re-sold is vile and completely against our wishes,” Dean posted on Instagram, “Live music should be accessible and we need to find a new way of making that possible. BE BETTER.”
Dean was nominated for the 2026 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. The other nominees: KATSEYE, Addison Rae, Sombr, The Marias, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, and Lola Young are also contenders for this category. This would be Dean’s first ever Grammy nomination.
When she found out she was nominated she posted on instagram a post of her saying “had to take a sec to process this but i’ve been nominated for a Grammy 🥲 thank u world and the @recordingacademy! no words.” Dean was very happy and in shock to know she was nominated for a Grammy. She showed gratitude and celebrated on numerous social media platforms.
With the Grammys approaching quickly, only time will tell if Olivia Dean is really the best rising artist of 2025.
