Ludlow High School’s 2023-2024 winter spirit week has many interesting themes. Some that have been seen before, like tourist day and ugly sweater day, as well as others, like country versus country club. But on Wednesday December 26, the theme is different for every grade level, and the class themselves got to choose what their theme would be for that day.

Class of 2024: Bring a Pal Day

The Class of 2024 chose the theme bring a pal (stuffed animal) day. It was chosen by doing research to come up with ideas, as well as posting an open Instagram story for other classmates to submit any of their ideas. A poll was then created with the top four ideas, which were Dress Like Any Holiday, Bring a Pal, Anything But a Backpack, and Barbie Versus Ken, and ultimately Bring a Pal Day won with 28 votes, with a close second of Anything But a Backpack Day with 25 votes, which the seniors anticipate using later in the year. 

Class of 2025: USA/Patriotism

The Class of 2025 chose the theme USA/patriotism day. It was chosen because it is not a hard day to participate in. Some of the other options were mathletes versus athletes and jersey day. They were not chosen because the sophomores were already doing jersey day, and that USA would likely have a better participation turnout than mathletes versus athletes. The themes were all thought of by students in the Class of 2025.

Class President Jack Favata states that they are hoping to have a great turnout with this theme, and for juniors to “wear your best red white and blue on Wednesday, and let’s win!”

Class of 2026: Sports/Jersey Day

The Class of 2026 chose the theme sports/jersey day. It was chosen because it would be an easy day for everyone to participate in and have fun with. Some of their other options were USA and Grout Fits. They were not chosen because the juniors were already doing a USA theme, and although Grout Fits sounded fun, they were unsure of how much participation the theme would get. The themes were thought of by their class officers, who bounced ideas off of each other until they chose the one that they thought everyone would like.

Class President Madalyn Marques says that “we hope to see all sophomores in a sports theme on Wednesday, and pull through on a win!”

Class of 2027: Winter Flannel

The Class of 2027 chose the theme winter flannel, where anything flannel works except pajama pants. It was chosen by creating a poll on Instagram to come up with ideas, and the majority voted for the theme to be winter flannel. The other theme options were superheroes and winter attire, which were likely not chosen due to the students not wanting to wear costumes or heavy clothing all day.
