New club knits its way to LHS

The LHS Knitting and Crocheting Club had its first meeting on Thursday January 7.

The club will be held by Michelle Fontana in her classroom every other Thursday after school at 2:00 or 2:30. The club will begin with teaching the basics of knitting and crocheting and going over the basics of the craft. Once everyone has mastered the basics, the goal is to work on their first knitting project.

Senior Julie Comtois, who pushed to have the club formed, is excited to be a part of the club.

“Our first meeting went really well, we discussed our future plans for the club and I’m really excited to keep going.”

The club is for students of all levels to join, whether they’ve been knitting for years or they’re just there to learn for the first time.

Eventually the club hopes to work on more advanced patterns, like some projects on pinterest. Fontana hopes to form a website for the club and there is talk of knitting baby blankets for charity.

The Knitting and Crocheting Club will also be accepting any yarn, knitting needles, and crocheting hooks which can be dropped off in Fontana’s classroom D102.
