The televised high school quiz show, As Schools Match Wits, features four Ludlow High School students who will test their knowledge against another four students from a different school in the area.

As Schools Match Wits is a quiz show that airs on PBS (Public Broadcasting Service), member station WGBY.

In the show there are two teams of four students that compete in a trivia and academic competition.

“It is almost the same as Jeopardy but with a team base instead of a single person.” said teacher and coach of the team John O’Connor. “We look for kids that are well-rounded.”

Within the game there are six categories: Arts & Entertainment, Literature, Math and Science, General Knowledge, Social Studies, and World Events.

“The game is extremely rigorous and has many tough questions,” said senior Louis Fialho, “once you get on television, you get nervous, but as the show goes on the nerves go away.”

Twenty-seven students took the tryout test but only four are allowed with one alternate.

The four students who will represent Ludlow High School are seniors Louis Fialho and Max Casagranda, junior Connor Crowley, and sophomore Matt Lussier. The alternate for the team is sophomore Christopher Maria. Louis Fialho is the only student on the team who has been on the team for three years (one as an alternate).
