The Ludlow High School Art Department hosted an art exhibit in the main lobby and front hallway of the high school on May 4.

Art included license plate and flower still-lifes, creative free-styles, landscape paintings, and human drawings.  Hand-crafted books and ceramic pieces were displayed on tables alongside handmade vases and hanging figures.

Art teacher Eliza LaCroix  reported “a good turn out” with about two dozen people attending the event.  Cookie and pretzel refreshments were offered along with a taste of the LHS band.

“It’s important to mix music and art together,” said LaCroix.

Art teacher Brett Smith said that while there has been a long history of hosting art exhibits at LHS, last year was “too chaotic” with the appointment of new art teachers, and they didn’t have a chance to put a show together.

“But we will have one every year from now on,” he said.

Librarian Cindy Goodreau thought that the display was very impressive and would love to see more from talented LHS students. “It’s awesome. I love, love, love art.”

Sophomore Alexa Repko, who displayed a drawing of rapper Lupe Fiasco and a hand-crafted book, said she enjoyed seeing the work of other students.

Sophomore Jake Zina presented a self portrait and other pieces. He said he enjoyed the show.

“It inspired me,” he said. “It’s a great way to show the ability of an artist.”

Siearra Papuga, Feature Editor
The long locks are gone but it’s still doubtful that the stereo-typical phrase “Big Bad” senior would come to your mind when you spot this 5’1” editor.  When Papuga isn't manning the feature post, she goes by the name of ‘captain’ to the cross country team.  If she had it her way there’d be ink in scripted all over her skin and glitter would poor out of our veins.  However, sense we live in a reality, this Puerto Rican finds herself saving the creativity for the canvas.  Watch out ladies and gentlemen, this writer doesn't plan on leaving without a mark. xoxogossipgirl
